COUNTRY OF ORIGIN CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR IMPORTED WINES AND DISTILLED SPIRITS

To:  Importers, Wholesalers, and Others Concerned.

Purpose.

This Industry Circular announces a change in the process that TTB uses to provide United States importers with country of origin certification requirements for wines and distilled spirits imported into the United States.

Cancellation.

This Industry Circular supersedes TTB Industry Circular No. 2007–3.

Discussion.

In the past, TTB provided guidance on country of origin certification requirements through the issuance of an Industry Circular.  However, in order to ensure the availability of current and comprehensive listings, TTB will no longer issue an Industry Circular on country of origin certification requirements.

Instead, effectively immediately, TTB will distribute the most updated guidance on country of origin certification requirements for imported wines and distilled spirits on its Web site at http://www.ttb.gov/itd/index.shtml.  TTB will notify any updates to these certification requirements through a press release or through the TTB Industry Newsletter.

Questions.

You may send inquiries concerning this guidance to the Director, International Trade Division, Suite 400W, Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau, 1310 G Street, NW., Washington, DC 20220.  You may also contact the division by phone at 202–453–2260 or by email at ITD@ttb.gov.
