Mission Statement

Navy Safe Harbor is the Navy's organization for coordinating the non-medical care of seriously wounded, ill, and injured Sailors, Coast Guardsmen, and their families. Through proactive leadership, the program provides a lifetime of individually tailored assistance designed to optimize the success of shipmates' recovery, rehabilitation, and reintegration activities.

Navy Safe Harbor Non-medical Care Management

Navy Safe Harbor Non-medical Care Managers tailor support to each service member's needs. Support includes assistance with:

  • Comprehensive Recovery Plan development
  • pay and personnel issues
  • invitational travel orders
  • lodging and housing adaption
  • child and youth care
  • transportation needs
  • legal and guardianship issues
  • education and training benefits
  • commissary and exchange access
  • respite care
  • TBI/PTSD support services
  • and much more

Navy Safe Harbor has staff at major Military Treatment Facilities and VA Polytrauma Centers throughout the United States.

Eligibility

All seriously wounded, ill, and injured Sailors, Coast Guardsmen, and their families:

  • OEF/OIF/OND casualties
  • Shipboard accidents
  • Liberty accidents
  • Serious illnesses (physical or psychological)

Enrollment in the Navy Safe Harbor is voluntary, and the program provides a lifetime of care.
