The National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland, the world's largest biomedical research facility, seeks applications from exceptional candidates for the following senior level positions within the Office of Extramural Research (OER). The Office of Extramural Research is responsible for the establishment, direction, and implementation of standards for the program management of all NIH extramural activities. The NIH extramural program is the largest single source of funding for biomedical and behavioral research in the United States. Research grants under this program represent over 19 billion dollars of the NIH budget.

With nationwide responsibility for improving the health and well being of all Americans, the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) oversees the biomedical research programs of the National Institutes of Health.
