• Business Intelligence Services

   

  Business Intelligence (BI) Services enable business owners across NIH to capitalize on the robust information sources available by providing a central repository for data from systems that manage NIH operations.  BI at CIT extracts information from multiple enterprise sources, standardizes or transforms the information, and stores or loads the information to a common, united format.  This central, secure repository can be used by customers to extract and view information in a variety of formats such as standard reports, ad-hoc, dashboards, scorecards and alerts to users.  Data elements are collected and integrated through reporting tools to enable users to query, report, and analyze information to meet business needs.  An example of BI at NIH is the NIH Business Information System, also known as nVision.

• Enterprise Application Services

  Enterprise Application Services provide full life-cycle application services for creating, designing, and managing applications.  Enterprise Applications are those that address a specific set of processes or functionality, and a single instance of the application is simultaneously used by multiple NIH Institutes and Centers.  Enterprise Applications typically provide intricate functionality across NIH and are funded by a central source.  Examples of enterprise applications are the NIH Enterprise Ethics System (NEES), NIH Intramural Database (NIDB), the NIH Integrated Time and Attendance System (ITAS), and the Director's Document and Records Management System (DDRMS). ​

• NIH Enterprise Directory (NED) Services

   

  NIH Enterprise Directory Services (NED) provide a meta-directory that joins identity data from a number of disparate sources and binds these identities to an HHS ID, the public key that permits global linking of NIH identities. NED is the authoritative source for identity information at NIH and a key component of identity management processes throughout the enterprise.

   

  NED  provides the administrative and self-service interfaces to the directory that permit staff to initiate, monitor, and manage NED records and the workflows associated with the authorization and auditing of access to NIH services and resources. NED also provides a browser-based interface to the public at large to access work locator information of NIH staff.
