Asian American/Pacific Islander Researchers and Scholars Work Group

The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) convenes racial/ethnic minority work groups comprising experts in the areas of substance abuse and addiction or health concerns of minority populations. The Asian American/Pacific Islander Researchers and Scholars Work Group provides recommendations to NIDA on research needed to better understand, prevent, and treat substance abuse and addiction in Asian American/Pacific Islander (AA/PI) populations and to develop addiction research capacity development in AA/PI communities. This workgroup's most recent activity, the Hawai`i Addictions Conference/AAPI Work Group Scientific Conference, centered on addressing drug abuse and addiction research and treatment issues among Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.
