OBJECTIVES/DESCRIPTION OF CLERKSHIP:
The Department of Radiology offers a complete clerkship in Diagnostic Radiology with rotations in chest, ICU, pediatrics, bone and gastrointestinal radiology, to include fluoroscopy, helical CT, MR, MRA, cardiac MR, special procedures including digital angiography, angioplasty, stint placement and the complete range of interventional procedures now performed in Diagnostic Radiology. Clerkship also includes rotations in both mammography and Diagnostic Ultrasound. There will be one-to-one supervision with a Board Certified Radiologist at all times during the clerkship. An extensive teaching file is available for additional intensive study. Additional rotations can be incorporated with the Nuclear Medicine Service. A tutorial on radiology anatomy is offered by the senior residents.

Nuclear Medicine: This hospital has a well equipped Nuclear Medicine Laboratory offering numerous diagnostic studies to include liver scans, lung scans, renal scans, brain scans, renograms, thyroid studies, etc. A clinical clerk choosing a rotation through this service would be given personal attention by a staff member of this service emphasizing the basic principles of Nuclear Medicine; diagnosis and interpretation of examination results. The clerk would also see patients with staff supervision in an outpatient thyroid clinic.

All students serving on clinical clerkships will be rated by the Chief Resident and the Department Program Director.
