The FDIC Chicago Region will be hosting the first session of its 2013 Regional Regulatory Conference Call series on Wednesday, January 30th at 10:00 a.m. (Central Time). Members of your Board and staff are invited to participate in this one-hour call.

Our topic for the teleconference will be "Flood Insurance - Getting it Right." This one hour session will discuss regulatory expectations for Flood Insurance compliance. It will also highlight important provisions of the Biggert-Waters Flood Insurance Reform Act, which was enacted in 2012. The teleconference is designed to assist banks in determining whether they have developed and implemented appropriate procedures to ensure compliance by:

• Discussing what to expect during the examination process;
• Discussing the most frequently cited violations;
• Providing illustrative examples of the regulation's application; and
• Discussing strategies for the successful development and implementation of a flood insurance compliance program.

Our speakers, comprised of FDIC Compliance Examiners, will provide their unique insights from an examination perspective. Deputy Regional Director L. Ray Jackson will provide opening remarks and preside over the teleconference. The one-hour call will conclude with a question and answer session.

The teleconference is primarily open to FDIC supervised institutions in the Chicago Region. Bank directors, officers, and staff members are welcome to attend. Participants may call in from any location and are not required to be onsite at their institutions.
