This set of 2002 quarters/stamps have been packaged in individual collectible cards. Each card contains a quarter and a stamp for Tennessee, Ohio, Louisiana, Indiana and Mississippi, encased in a plastic form for protection. Each card is marked with the quarter issues sequence number, the state flag and the state seal.
(Note: The quarters may come from either the Denver or the Philadelphia mint)
George Washington
The quarter dollar's obverse dates from the 1932 bicentennial of the first president's birth and was designed by John Flanagan and modified in 1999 by William Cousins. Except for the mint mark, the design is the same for all 50 State Quarters®.
Quarters
The United States Mint's 50 States Quarters® Program is planned to run from 1999 through 2008 and new quarters are issued approximately every 10 weeks. They are released in the order that each state joined the union. Each state quarter celebrates its state with a design honoring the state's history, tradition, and symbols.
Stamps
The United States Postal Service's 37-cent "Greetings from America" postage stamps were issued in New York City on October 25, 2002. The stamps showcase the unique character of each of the 50 states. The designs, reminiscent of the "large letter" postcards of the 1930s and 1940s, recall the tradition of greetings exchanged through the mail between family and friends.
