"Using Animals in Intramural Research: Guidelines for Principal Investigators" is offered as a web-based training course. The training presents relevant animal research laws and regulations, and provides an overview of how to prepare an NIH Animal Study Proposal (ASP).

NOTE: This course may also be taken by Animal Users if they will be assisting in writing ASP's. If taken by an Animal User, it will fulfill their NIH mandatory training requirement as a replacement for the "Guidelines for Animal Users" course.

WEB BASED COURSE: Web-based course access

Completion time: 90 - 120 minutes (does not have to be completed in one session). You may exit the course at the end of any section and then return later using your user name and password.

Section Quiz: You must answer the questions correctly at the end of each section to receive credit for the course.

Notification: Upon completion of the course, your registration information will be sent electronically to OACU and recorded in our training database, and your Animal Care and Use Committee will be notified.

This page is maintained by the Office of Animal Care and Use (OACU). Readers are encouraged to forward comments and suggestions to OACU at (301) 496-5424.
