Passengers Who Have Undergone a Medical Treatment with Radioactive Materials and Those with Radioactive Medication

Travelers with Disabilities and Medical Conditions

Individuals who have recently undergone medical procedures involving radioactive materials and those with radioactive medical implants can be screened by Advanced Imaging Technology (AIT), walk-through metal detector, or a thorough patdown procedure. If an individual has been advised by a medical professional to avoid screening by AIT, the passenger can request to be screened by a patdown procedure.

If a passenger has radioactive medication, it is permitted through a screening checkpoint once screened. For information on how medications are screened, please review the information on what to expect for passengers who need medications available on this page.
