Benefits.gov debuts on YouTube

The main portal for information about government-provided benefits has launched a channel on YouTube, with the initial video being a tutorial on how to use the site, Benefits.gov.

The tutorial recommends that site visitors investigating benefits for which they may qualify have information on hand regarding their family, education, career, income and current benefits received. It also recommends answering as many questions as possible, even those for which responses are optional, to best determine eligibility.

It notes that some benefits may be available through a family member, such as one who is a military veteran. Other features include a sign-up for e-mailed updates when programs change.

More self-help tutorials on other site features are planned.

Benefits.gov previously had established a presence on Facebook and Twitter.
