The American Eagle is proudly perched on a mountaintop while biplanes fly past below it. This strong imagery of a traditional American symbol emotionally stimulates the onlooker and makes he or she more likely to do what the poster asks, in this case, buy War Savings Stamps. This is exactly what Charles Livingston Bull intended when he created this poster in 1917.
This poster is kept in Record Group 45: Naval Records Collection of the Office of Naval Records and Library, 1691-1945 in the Still Picture Records Section of the Special Media Archives Service Division at Archives II in College Park, Maryland.
