This poster, created by Charles Livingston Bull circa 1917, was a poster promoting food conservation. The poster states that fish feed themselves, meaning that Americans do not have to use resources to raise fish as they would with cows or other animals. Therefore, during the First World War, when resources were in high demand they could be used towards the war effort.
This poster was produced by the Advertising Section within the Educational Division of the U.S. Food Administration and is kept as a photomechanical print in Record Group 4: Records of the U.S. Food Administration, 1917-1920. One can inquire about the print held by the Archives in the Still Picture Records Section of the Special Media Services Division at Archives II in College Park, Maryland.
