One year later - Mississippi

 NEW ORLEANS – Left column imagery depicts oiled beaches of Mississippi following the Deepwater Horizon explosion and resulting oil spill that occurred April 20, 2010. The right column shows recent imagery nearly one year later that show the results of the unified clean up efforts to restore the Gulf of Mexico.  In the past year more than 47,000 federal, state and local responders have worked on the unprecedented cleanup efforts, and today, more than 2,000 responders remain committed to cleanup efforts.
