This 48-page booklet for parents and families describes Fragile X syndrome, the most common inherited form of mental retardation. The booklet explains Fragile X, its causes, its symptoms and associated disorders, and its treatments and outlines some NICHD-supported research on the condition. The booklet also provides snapshots of many families affected by this disorder.
