CIT provides Helix Managed Storage to user-accessible directories. The service offers high performance storage using highly redundant network file servers and includes seamless access to files among Helix Systems computational platforms, convenient access from users' desktop computers, regular snapshots of files for online access, and backup to offline tapes.

Helix Managed Storage utilizes high-performance NFS RAID fileservers with hot-swappable disks to provide continuous service. Users benefit from dependable, reliable access to their files, including access to snapshot views of their files taken regularly throughout the day.

Q: How do I transfer files between my desktop computer and Helix Systems?
A: The simplest way is to map your /home and /data directories as network drives. You can also use a transfer client, such as FileZilla or Fugu. For more advanced users, there is SCP and sFTP. See http://helix.nih.gov/Documentation/transfer.html for more information.

A: The command checkquota on any Helix Systems machine will report your usage as both an absolute value and a percentage of your current quota.
