Contact the NICHD

Please Note: NICHD staff cannot provide medical diagnoses or personalized medical advice to individuals outside of a clinical research environment. Instead, the NICHD offers resources and information to help people better understand their health and their diagnosed disorders. Staff are prohibited from rating, making referrals to, or endorsing a specific person, health care provider, organization, or facility.

The resources on the NICHD website are not intended as a substitute for professional medical care. The NICHD urges you to work with your health care provider(s) to obtain answers to your specific questions about your person health.

Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Requests

To learn more about FOIA and the NICHD, visit http://www.nichd.nih.gov/about/Pages/foia.aspx.

Clinical Trials

To learn more about NICHD clinical trials and clinical research, visit the Find Clinical Trials section of this website.

The ClinicalTrials.gov website, managed by the National Library of Medicine, is the primary federal online resource for information about clinical trials, including eligibility requirements and contact information. Visit http://www.clinicaltrials.gov to search for clinical trials by topic or condition.

You can also contact the NIH Patient Recruitment and Public Liaison Office at 1-800-411-1222 (TTY-1-866-411-1010) or at prpl@mail.cc.nih.gov to learn whether you or a family member might qualify for a clinical trial.

Please note that clinical trials have very specific criteria for inclusion; just because there is an ongoing trial does not mean that you or a family member will be eligible to take part.

Grant Information

The NICHD's Office of Extramural Policy provides guidance on and interpretation of NIH policies related to research grant applications and administration. The Office also addresses inquiries related to Requests for Applications (RFAs) and Program Announcements (PAs/PARs/PASs) and other funding opportunity announcements.

The NICHD’s Grants Management Branch provides guidance and answers to questions related to funded grants and projects and their progress reports. Find a contact in the Grants Management Branch. You can also visit the NIH Research Portfolio Online Reporting Tool (RePORT) website to search for funded projects using different variables, such as researcher name or institution.

Contracts and Requests for Proprosals (RFPs)

The NICHD's Office of Acquisitions provides resources and guidance to assist the Institute in acquiring research and development services through contract mechanisms and using RFPs to solicit contract proposals. Find a contact in the Office of Acquisitions.
