    Metrorail Fares

    Peak fares are in effect on weekdays from opening to 9:30 am, 3-7 pm, and on weekends from midnight to closing. Off-peak fares are in effect at all other times. For more information, see the Metrorail Fares page.

    For fares between stations, go to the Metrorail Stations page and click on the station where you're starting your trip.

    Metrobus Fares

    Metrobus fare for regular routes is $1.60 using a SmarTrip® card or $1.80 using cash. The fare for express routes is $3.65 using a SmarTrip® card or $4 using cash. Fare for seniors/people with disabilities is 80¢ for regular routes, $1.80 on express routes.

    You must have exact change. Bus operators do not carry money. Please have your pass, transfer or exact fare ready when you board. For more information, see our Metrobus Fares page.

    Parking Fees

    Metro operates parking facilities at 42 Metrorail stations. All 42 stations offer daily or hourly parking. 35 stations offer reserved parking, in which customers purchase permits to park in reserved spaces. For more information, please see the parking information in the Rail section.

    Purchase Fares

    Purchase farecards and passes only from authorized outlets. Farecards and passes sold elsewhere might be forged or stolen, and may be rejected when used. Authorized locations include:

SmarTrip® Card

SmarTrip®The SmarTrip® card is a permanent, rechargeable farecard that is fast and easy to use. You can purchase SmarTrip® cards online or at many convenient locations. You can set up an online SmarTrip® account to view your card balance and usage history, and register new cards.
