Program Description
The Emergency Conservation Program (ECP) shares the cost of rehabilitating eligible farmlands damaged by natural disaster with agricultural producers. During severe drought, ECP also provides emergency water assistance for livestock and for existing irrigation systems for orchards and vineyards. Emergency cost-sharing is limited to new conservation problems created by natural disasters which would, if left untreated, render the land impaired or endangered. Conservation problems that existed before the natural disaster are not eligible for cost sharing assistance. ECP may be available in areas without regard to a Presidential or Secretarial emergency disaster designation.
General Program Requirements
In order to qualify for this benefit program, you must be a farmer or rancher who owns or controls farmland that needs to be rehabilitated due to damage from natural disasters or needs emergency water conservation measures in periods of severe drought.
