NASS Changes Release Date for Corn, Soybean County Estimates

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) will publish 2007 county estimates for corn and soybeans on March 6, rather than the previously announced date of March 14, 2008. The county-level acreage, yield and production data are to determine crop insurance payments and premiums. NASS changed the publication date for the 2007 county estimates in order to better accommodate the sales closing date for 2008 crop insurance policies, which, in major growing areas, is March 15.
