Office of the Commissioner

The Office of the Commissioner provides oversight of all ANA functions including: ANA budget, program operations, policy, planning and evaluation and the HHS Intra-Departmental Council on Native American Affairs. 

The Division of Program Operations

The Division of Program Operations (DPO) is responsible for the administration of discretionary grant programs to eligible Tribes and nonprofit Native American organizations.

The responsibilities include:

  • Annual grant competitions and coordination of the panel review process;
  • Development of ANA’s Funding Opportunity Announcements; and
  • Grant oversight.

The Division of Policy, Planning and Evaluation

The Division of Policy, Planning and Evaluation (DPPE) is responsible for annual evaluation of ANA’s grant portfolio. 

The responsibilities include:

  • Development of organizational policies and planning;
  • Community impact evaluation;
  • Coordination and oversight of training and technical assistance activities;
  • Development of organizational and Congressional reports; and completion of special organizational studies.

The Management Operations Staff

The Management Operations Staff (MOS) is responsible for ANA Budget and Administrative functions.

The responsibilities include:

  • ANA budget activities
  • ANA funding decision memo
  • Data collection
  • Personnel actions
  • Flow of correspondence, including receipt of and response to Freedom of Information Act requests
