Welcome to the Northwest Justice Project (NJP), Washington’s publicly funded legal aid program.  Each year NJP provides critical civil legal assistance and representation to thousands of low-income people in cases affecting basic human needs such as family safety and security, housing preservation, protection of income, access to health care, education and other basic needs.   Read more »

Public Benefit Cuts and Reductions

NJP has prepared bulletins outlining cuts and reductions in public benefit programs over the last year. You can read about changes in Medicaid, Basic Health, Disability Lifeline, TANF and other programs on the Washington LawHelp web site.

New Foreclosure Law

If you fall behind on your mortgage, contact a housing counselor or an attorney as soon as possible.  A new law allows your housing counselor or attorney to request that your bank engage in mediation with you before they can foreclose. The Washington LawHelp web site has information about this law and other foreclosure issues.
