The Providence Rhode Island Regional Office serves a potential clientele of 166,600 veterans: approximately 91,161 in the State of Rhode Island and 75,439 in South Eastern Massachusetts. 

The Regional Office is responsible for the management of most non-medical benefits provided by the Veterans Benefits Administration, including compensation, pension, vocational rehabilitation and counseling, and coordinates the local benefit activities associated with education, home loan guaranty and veterans life insurance. The Providence Regional Office administers annually over $195 million in benefit payments and other services directed to the veterans in Rhode Island and South Eastern Massachusetts.

Outreach service is provided to Rhode Island and South Eastern Massachusetts veteran population and their dependents in the full range of veterans benefits. In addition, the Regional Counsel and service officers representing the American Legion (Rhode Island and Massachusetts), Massachusetts Veterans Services, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Military Order of the Purple Heart, Vietnam Veterans of America, and AMVETS have offices on the premises.
