REL QR20003 Late Interventions Matter Too: The Case of College Coaching in New Hampshire
The study examined whether providing college application coaching to high school seniors increased postsecondary enrollment. The program was aimed at students who were considering applying to college but who had made little or no progress in the application process, and who had a tenth grade test score high enough to warrant applying to college. Study authors found that women who participated in the program enrolled in postsecondary education at a rate that was 12 percentage points higher than women in the control condition (63% versus 51%). This study meets WWC evidence standards without reservations because it is a randomized controlled trial with no attrition. A more thorough review is forthcoming and will examine whether follow-up and subgroup findings meet WWC evidence standards.

NCES 2013157 Web Tables—Characteristics of Certificate Completers With Their Time to Certificate and Labor Market Outcomes
These Web Tables provide estimates of certificate credit requirements, certificate completion times, and labor market outcomes for undergraduate students who entered postsecondary education for the first time in 2003–04 and whose postsecondary transcripts indicated the first credential earned by spring 2009 was a subbaccalaureate certificate (certificate completers). The results are based on data from about 1,700 certificate completers representing a population of approximately 311,000 students in the 2003–04 Beginning Postsecondary Students Longitudinal Study, Second Follow-up (BPS:04/09), a nationally representative sample of undergraduates first interviewed during the 2003–04 academic year and followed over a period of 6 academic years.

NCES 2013151REV Web Tables—An Overview of Classes Taken and Credits Earned by Beginning Postsecondary Students
These Web Tables provide an overview of classes taken and credits earned by a nationwide sample of first-time beginning postsecondary students based on data from the Postsecondary Education Transcript Study (PETS) of the 2004/09 Beginning Postsecondary Students Longitudinal Study. PETS collected transcripts from all the postsecondary institutions students attended, providing a complete 6-year record of students’ coursetaking and credit accumulation. Topics covered in these Web Tables include precollege credits, remedial education participation, withdrawals and repeated courses, and credits earned in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Tables also present credits earned in each year of enrollment and total credits earned by whether students earned a credential.

NCES 2013152 STEM in Postsecondary Education: Entrance, Attrition, and Coursetaking Among 2003-2004 Beginning Postsecondary Students
Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields are widely regarded as critical to the national economy. To provide a nationally representative portrait of undergraduate students’ experiences in STEM education, these Web Tables summarize longitudinal data from a cohort of first-time, beginning students who started postsecondary education in a bachelor’s or associate’s degree program in 2003−04, examining their entrance into and attrition from STEM fields and the extent to which they participated in STEM coursework over a period of 6 academic years, from 2003–04 to 2008–09.

NCES 2012345 Trends Among Young Adults Over Three Decades, 1974-2006
This report describes patterns of continuity and change over time in four areas of the transition to adulthood among young adults as measured 2 years after their senior year of high school. The four areas are postsecondary enrollment, labor force roles, family formation, and civic engagement. The analysis population is spring-term high school seniors in 1972, 1980, 1992, and 2004. The data come from four separate NCES sponsored studies: the National Longitudinal Study of the High School Class of 1972 (NLS:72), High School and Beyond (HS&B), the National Education Longitudinal Study of 1988 (NELS:88), and the Education Longitudinal Study of 2002 (ELS:2002).

NCES 2012256 Web Tables—Occupational and Academic Majors in Postsecondary Education: 6-Year Education and Employment Outcomes, 2001 and 2009.
These Web Tables compare the 6-year education and labor force outcomes for beginning undergraduates who initially enrolled in postsecondary education in 1995–96 and 2003–04 by whether they majored in an academic or occupational field of study. The data are from two iterations of the Beginning Postsecondary Students Longitudinal Study (BPS:96/01 and BPS:04/09). The first followed first-time undergraduates who began postsecondary education in 1995–96 until June 2001, and the second followed first-time undergraduates who began postsecondary education in 2003–04 until June 2009. Occupational fields in postsecondary education include a range of majors, including business and marketing and health sciences, and account for a majority of undergraduate postsecondary students.

NCES 2012173 Students Attending For-Profit Postsecondary Institutions: Demographics, Enrollment Characteristics, and 6-Year Outcomes
These Web Tables examine the demographic and postsecondary enrollment characteristics of undergraduates who attended for-profit institutions in 2007–08 and present the 6-year outcomes of undergraduates who first enrolled in for-profit postsecondary institutions in 2003–04. Data are presented for all for-profit students and separately for students who attended less-than-2-year, 2-year, and 4-year institutions. To provide additional context, the tables also include comparable data for students in community colleges and public and private nonprofit 4-year colleges and universities.

NCES 2012246 2004/09 Beginning Postsecondary Students Longitudinal Study (BPS:04/09) Methodology Report
This report describes the methods and procedures used in the 2004/09 Beginning Postsecondary Students Longitudinal Study (BPS:04/09). These students, who started their postsecondary education during the 2003-04 academic year, were first interviewed as part of the 2004 National Postsecondary Student Aid Study (NPSAS:04). BPS:04/09 is the second and final follow-up interview of this cohort. This report provides the methodology and outcomes of the BPS:04/09 student interview data collection, transcript data collection, and administrative records matching. The BPS study is unique in that it includes both traditional and nontraditional students, follows their paths through postsecondary education over the course of 6 years, and is not limited to enrollment at a single institution. For the first time in BPS, transcripts were collected from all of the postsecondary institutions attended by the sample. Together, the student interview and transcript data collections represent a significant and rich data source on this cohort of first-time beginning students.

In addition to reporting student goals, tables display outcomes after 5 years for all three cohorts and after 6 years for students who began in 1995–96 and 2003–04. Results are shown by selected student demographic characteristics and by student enrollment characteristics.
