Initial Transparency Report on Compliance and Enforcement Information

Draft Proposals for Public Comment to Increase Transparency By Promoting Greater Access to the Agency's Compliance and Enforcement Data

On October 3, 2011, FDA released a new report that contains eight draft proposals to improve access to FDA's compliance and enforcement data.  FDA developed these draft proposals after meeting with partners at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Labor (DOL), both of which have model compliance/enforcement data websites.

This report was triggered by FDA's memorandum to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), dated May 6, 2011, regarding President Obama's Presidential Memorandum on Regulatory Compliance, which called for agencies to make publicly available compliance information more easily accessible, downloadable, and searchable online.  In FDA's memorandum to HHS, FDA committed to meeting with EPA and DOL to learn from their experiences.

FDA encourages the public to review the report.
