View Electronic Notices of Action

Data Bank reporters of Medical Malpractice Payment Reports, Clinical Privilege Action Reports, and Professional Society Action Reports are required by Title IV of Public Law 99-660 (42 USC§11134) to notify State Boards of these report submissions. The Data Bank permits reporters to send an electronic version of the report to the appropriate State Boards through the Data Bank system, if the State Board opts to receive these electronic notifications.

State Boards are notified via email when an electronic Notice of Action is ready to view.

To View an Electronic Notice of Action (Applicable to State Boards Only)

  1. Sign in to the Data Bank.
  2. On the Options page, click Report Updates.
  3. If Report Updates is not an option, click Query, then click Report Updates.
  4. On the Report Updates page, Notice of Action Reports will appear with a Subject Source and Disclosure Reason of "Notice of Action". Click a Report DCN link to view detailed information about the Notice of Action.
  5. On the Notice of Action page, confirm whether your State Board is (or has been) responsible for licensing or certifying this subject. Click Continue.
Note: If the State Board indicates that they have never licensed or certified the subject, an email and Data Bank Correspondence are sent to the reporter stating that the legal obligation to notify the State Board has not been fulfilled.
  6. On the Disclosure Notice page, click Continue to view the report.
  7. Once the report is viewed by the State Board, the legal obligation of the reporter to notify the board is fulfilled. An email is sent to the reporter stating that the report has been viewed.
Note: If the report has not been viewed within 7 days, an email and Data Bank correspondence are sent to the reporter stating that the legal obligation to notify the State Board has not been fulfilled. In this case, the reporting organization must print and mail a copy of the final report to the State Board to meet their legal obligation to notify the State Board.
