Survey Webinar Series: Increasing Staff and Family Survey Response Rates

During this Webinar, Eric Hirsch, Chief Officer, External Affairs for the New Teacher Center; Trina Osher, President of Huff Osher Consulting, Inc.; and Dr. Sarah Lindstrom Johnson, Assistant Director for Research and Evaluation of the Maryland Safe and Supportive Schools project and Research Associate at Johns Hopkins University, co-presented on engaging families, staff, and special populations in school climate efforts and increasing survey response rates for these respondents. Specifically, they addressed the following:

• Best practices in engaging school staff in the importance of school climate and its measurement, including securing adequate staff response rates
• Best practices in engaging families (parents/guardians) in school climate measurement, including:
       o Key issues for engaging families from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds
       o Strategies to increase family participation and survey response rates
       o Strategies to engage families in using survey results to assist with school improvement planning
• The State of Maryland’s (one of the S3 grantees) experience in engaging families and staff in its school climate measurement effort
  This Webinar is appropriate for school district superintendents and district assessment personnel, school administrators and allied staff.
