Registration

The Department of Health and Human Services invites leaders of Tribal Governments operating Head Start and Early Head Start programs to participate in a formal Consultation Session with the Office of Head Start leadership. The sessions will help to better meet the needs of American Indian/Alaska Native (AIAN) children and families, taking into consideration funding allocations, distribution formulas, and other issues affecting the delivery of Head Start services. You are encouraged to submit agenda items, provide written testimony, and invite observers to the meetings. Four Easy Ways to Register for the Meeting

  • (1) Online: Register online by selecting the link of your preferred location above to receive an automatic confirmation via email. Please bring your confirmation page to the meeting.
  • (2) Email the completed Registration Form to tribal@pal-tech.com.
    Please allow two business days for confirmation and bring your confirmation page to the meeting.
  • (3) Fax the completed Registration Form to 703-243-0496, Attn: Gretchen Gunning/Tribal Consultation.
    Please allow five to seven business days for confirmation and bring your confirmation page to the meeting.
  • (4) Mail the completed Registration Form to: Gretchen Gunning/Tribal Consultation, Head Start Resource Center, 1000 Wilson Blvd., Suite 1000, Arlington, VA 22209

Agenda and Testimony

Tribal leaders and designated representatives interested in submitting written testimony or proposing agenda topics for this Consultation should contact Robert Bialas, Regional Program Manager – Region XI, at 202-205-9497 or Robert.Bialas@acf.hhs.gov. Proposals must be submitted at least three days in advance of the Consultation and include a brief description of the topic area along with the name and contact information of the suggested presenter.

Designated Representatives and Observers

The Consultation will be conducted with elected or appointed leaders of Tribal Governments and their designated representatives. Designees must have a letter from the Tribal Government authorizing them to represent the Tribe. The letter must be submitted at least three days in advance of the Consultation to Robert Bialas via fax at 866-396-8843. Representatives of Tribal organizations and Native nonprofit organizations are welcome to attend as observers.

Handouts and Materials Available Online

New for 2013, in an effort to reduce waste and to “go green,” all handouts will be made available online prior to each Consultation. Participants are strongly encouraged to download the handouts in advance and to bring the materials with them to the Consultation. Thumb drives containing all materials will be provided onsite to participants. However, hard copies will not be available onsite.
