The Bureau of Justice Assistance will fund demonstration projects aimed at preventing rape in prisons. The demonstration program will provide resources to meet the requirements of Prison Rape Elimination Act standards in juvenile correction facilities, local juvenile detention facilities, adult jails and lock-ups, and Tribal facilities. Applicants must be units of state government, but it is expected that in many cases collaborative partnerships will be established with local and Tribal government agencies.
