VA has a Veterans Employment Coordination Service that oversees the recruitment of new veterans into the VA workforce, especially recently disabled combat veterans. The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has issued guidance on the several laws that affect the employment rights of disabled veterans -- the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Uniformed Services Reemployment Rights Act. Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE)
CPE is an experience-based form of theological education that is led by a certified pastoral educator with a small group of peers in a common learning environment. The NY Harbor Healthcare System offers CPE (Level I/Level II) on a year long, full time basis, on a part time basis and as a summer program via three programs, the Residency Program, the Extended Unit Program and the Summer Unit Program, respectively. Compensated Work Therapy (CWT)
CWT is a Department of Veterans Affairs clinical program which helps veterans who are recovering from a broad range of disabilities to achieve the highest level of vocational functioning possible. The NY Harbor CWT Program is CARF accredited, which means it meets rigorous guidelines for service and quality. Much of our programming is targeted at veterans recovering from homelessness, substance abuse, physical and psychiatric illness.
