Brown Sponsors Cuyahoga County Student To Serve As Senate Page This Summer
Solon High School Junior Will Participate in Highly-Competitive Senate Page Program During Upcoming Summer Session
WASHINGTON, D.C. – A Cuyahoga County student will spend this summer in Washington as part of the Senate page program. U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) will sponsor Andi Peng, a Solon High School junior, as one of 30 students from across the United States that will serve as a page in the U.S. Senate this summer. She will serve as a page during the second summer session.
“Andi is a hard-working, driven, and talented young woman, and I look forward to working with her in the United States Senate,” Brown said. "Her successes in the classroom, as an intern in the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s office, as a volunteer, and on the athletic field have prepared her well for her upcoming term on Capitol Hill. Only a small fraction of students are allowed the opportunity to serve as a Senate page, and I know that Andi will represent Ohio and Solon well over the course of the page program.”
Peng is the top-ranked student at her class at Solon High School; last summer, she interned in the Cuyhoga County Prosecutor’s office. She is active in student government, mock trial, and the Science Olympiad; volunteers at a nursing home; and participates on the varsity soccer and track teams. She is interested in attending a military academy following her graduation from Solon High School.
The Senate Page Program is a highly competitive program; only a small number of students that apply are accepted. Senate pages live in Page Residence buildings and attend the Senate Page School.
