Returning Mail Transport Equipment

 

Mail transport equipment includes the sacks, pouches, trays, wheeled containers, pallets, and other items used by the Postal Service™ and its customers.

We replace lost equipment every year so that both our carriers and our customers have what they need. Considering the approximate cost of sleeves (70¢ each), flat tubs ($4.70 each), and pallets ($18 each)—it all adds up quickly. Pitch in and return any unused or extra items.

Businesses can return small quantities of equipment to local Post Offices™ or nearby processing and distribution facilities. For large quantities and bigger equipment like pallets or hampers, fill out a pickup request.

To request equipment pickup, please send an email to hqmte@usps.gov with "Equipment Pickup Request" in the subject line and be sure to include the following information in your email:

  • Company:
    Name of company 
    Address where the equipment is located
  • Mail Transport Equipment:
    Type of equipment
    Quantity
  • Requestor's Contact Information:
    Name of requestor
    Phone number
    Email address
