Safety Reporting Portal: A New Online Tool

    Topics on this page:

    Introduction

On May 24, 2010, the Food and Drug Administration and the National Institutes of Health launched a new Web site that, when fully developed, will provide a mechanism for the reporting of pre- and post-market safety data to the federal government. Currently the Web site can be used to report safety problems related to foods, including animal feed, and animal drugs, as well as adverse events occurring on human gene transfer trials. Consumers can also use the site to report problems with pet foods and pet treats.

For Reportable Food Registry (RFR) System Users

The Reportable Food Registry (RFR) was taken offline to begin the process of launching the upgraded RFR, as part of the Safety Reporting Portal.

Reporting Problems with Animal & Veterinary Products

Animal drug manufacturers can report adverse drug events associated with animal drugs while consumers can report product problems with pet foods and pet treats. FDA provides specific guidance in these areas using the Safety Reporting Portal.
