Sunday School Books: Shaping the Values of Youth in Nineteenth-Century America presents the text and images of 163 books that show the development of religious instruction in the United States. The texts come from several denominations and show instruction relating to religious and moral development. The texts also cover discussions on child-rearing, slavery and abolition, social conduct, animal welfare and natural history.
