British man removed to UK faces child exploitation charges

CLEVELAND - A British man wanted in the United Kingdom on 22 counts of indecent assault upon a child was removed to London on February 2 following an investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). ICE officers turned Malcolm Mcquillan, 59, over to London's Metropolitan Police Service at 9 a.m.

Mcquillan became a fugitive from justice in the UK in the late 1980s after failing to appear for trial on the assault charges. Mcquillan was originally arrested by ICE agents in Aug. 2009 on visa overstay charges and received a final order of removal in November 2009.

"ICE will not allow aliens who commit crimes abroad to use the United States as a safe haven from justice in their home countries," said Rebecca Adducci, field office director, ICE Detention and Removal Office in Detroit. "ICE will continue to work with our law enforcement partners locally, nationally and internationally to identify and remove criminal aliens to face justice in their native countries."
