Mexican national pleads guilty to illegally reentering the US
Previously deported on 3 separate occasions

HARTFORD, Conn. — A Mexican national pleaded guilty today to one count of illegally reentering the United States after deportation. He faces up to two years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine. At the conclusion of any sentence, he will be deported back to Mexico. This case is being investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO).

Jesus Rojas-Reyes, 21, pleaded guilty before U.S. Magistrate Judge Donna F. Martinez in Hartford. According to court documents and statements made in court, Rojas-Reyes has been deported from the United States to Mexico on three occasions. In September 2011, he illegally reentered the United States through Arizona.

Rojas-Reyes has been detained by ERO since Nov. 14, 2011, when he was arrested by the Norwalk (Conn.) Police Department on forgery, unlawful restraint and criminal impersonation charges.

Rojas-Reyes is scheduled to be sentenced by Chief U.S. District Judge Alvin W. Thompson Dec. 3, 2012.
