This video, available in English and Spanish, teaches two key points to hospital patients and visitors to help prevent infections: the importance of practicing hand hygiene while in the hospital, and that it is appropriate to ask or remind their healthcare providers to practice hand hygiene as well.

Statewide Hand Hygiene Campaigns

• Maryland
  The Maryland Hospital Hand Hygiene Collaborative campaign is an important statewide initiative to enhance the prevention of healthcare-associated infections (HAI) in Maryland hospitals. The goal of the Maryland Hospital Hand Hygiene Collaborative is to strengthen and compliment the work already being done to improve Hand Hygiene.
• South Carolina
  The South Carolina Hospital Association (SCHA) launched a statewide hand hygiene initiative in the state’s nearly 100 public and private member hospitals last year called, “Save Lives: Clean Your Hands!” This clean hands campaign is a partnership with the World Health Organization’s (WHO) global hand hygiene initiative to reduce healthcare associated infection (HAI).

  The SAVE LIVES: Clean Your Hands initiative receives support from many different people and organisations around the globe. We hope that this initiative is interesting and motivating for many and we value all the efforts in helping to promote it.
• WHO Guide to the Implementation of WHO Multimodal Hand Hygiene Improvement Strategy [PDF - 465.15 KB]
  World Health Organization (WHO) has developed evidence-based WHO Guidelines on Hand Hygiene in Health Care to support health-care facilities to improve hand hygiene and thus reduce health care-associated infection (HCAI).
• WHO Tools for HH Program Implementation
  The World Health Organization (WHO) Patient Safety team has provided a suite of tools to support health-care facilities to prepare effective Action Plans to improve hand hygiene.

  WHO Hand Hygiene dance video performed by Les Rhythmakers to accompany educational materials about the 5 Moments for Hand Hygiene.

• Ontario's evidence-based hand hygiene program
  Hand hygiene is a responsibility shared among all health care providers. The Just Clean Your Hands program was created to help hospitals and individuals overcome the barriers to proper hand hygiene and improve compliance with hand hygiene best practices.
