Wednesday, February 20: Gusty westerly winds behind the departing cold front will continue to disperse pollutants and transport clean air into the Mahoning Valley, keeping AQI levels Good. Thursday, surface high pressure moving across the Great Lakes will produce light to moderate northwesterly winds in Youngstown-Warren through the morning hours. These winds will keep pollutants well dispersed, yielding Good AQI levels. Friday, moderate southeasterly winds ahead of an approaching low-pressure system will gradually transport pollutants and moisture into the Youngstown-Warren region, enhancing particle production. However, low pollutant carryover from previous days will lead to Good AQI levels. Saturday, as the low-pressure system passes to the north, winds will shift to west-southwesterly winds the Mahoning Valley, dispersing pollutants and keeping AQI levels Good. Sunday, winds will weaken as high pressure moves over the Buckeye State, reducing pollutant dispersion. However, low pollutant carryover from Saturday will result in Good AQI levels. |
