Dana Gresham

Assistant Secretary for Governmental Affairs

Dana Gresham is the Assistant Secretary for Governmental Affairs.  In this capacity, Mr. Gresham serves as the principal advisor to the Secretary, Deputy Secretary and senior staff with respect to legislative affairs, Congressional relations, and policy matters affecting Federal, state and local governments, and public and private interest groups. 

He joined DOT in May 2009 after being confirmed by the United States Senate.  Mr. Gresham was born in Birmingham, Alabama and received his B.S.F.S. Degree in International Politics in 1994 from Georgetown University.  Prior to joining DOT, he served on the Obama-Biden Presidential Transition Team as the Legislative Liaison for then DOT Secretary Designate Ray LaHood. 

He has over 14 years of Capitol Hill experience, having worked for three different Members of Congress between 1994 and 2009.  Most recently, he was Chief of Staff to Congressman Artur Davis of Alabama.  Previously, he served as the Transportation Legislative Assistant and Legislative Director for Representative Bud Cramer, also of Alabama.  Mr. Gresham began his career on Capitol Hill in 1994 as a Staff Assistant for Representative Eva Clayton of North Carolina.  He and his wife, Kathryn, reside in Washington, D.C. with their young son.
