Introduction to Telecommunications Systems
Program Overview
This course provides an introduction to key topics relating to both data and
voice communication networks. It covers essential baseline terminology and
concepts related to physical, data link, and network layers. This course
does not provide direct audit, examination, or risk management guidance.
Key Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participant will be able to:

discuss transmission technologies such as T-1, SONET,
and DSL;

describe telephone switching architecture;
-
explain LAN/WAN architecture;

identify wireless structures and services;
-
discuss the OSI Reference Model and its relevance to
communication systems; and
-
apply this baseline knowledge to better understand
how bank systems are connected.
