Peru and the United States share a long history of development cooperation that spans over five decades, during which Peru has made tremendous progress. Notable achievements include reduced maternal and infant mortality rates, more accountable and effective government institutions, and sustained economic growth.  

Despite Peru’s impressive progress in the last decade, many Peruvians stay behind the country's advances. USAID supports the Government of Peru's focus on vulnerable populations and social inclusion goals by helping its people increase and expand economic opportunities, strengthen institutions, and manage natural resources in a sustainable way.
