Welcome from Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen…
Thank you for visiting the Wisconsin Department of Justice. We exist to protect public safety and to serve the people of this great state. It is my honor, as your Attorney General, to stand alongside the outstanding men and women of law enforcement, and those who prosecute crime, as we carry out this mission.

DNA at Arrest
If Wisconsin implements “DNA at Arrest,” it would join the federal government and 28 states, all of which have some type of legislation to collect DNA at arrest. Such vital legislation helps solve crimes and reduce additional victimization without unduly compromising privacy or due process rights.

DOJ’S budget request
As Attorney General, I believe public safety should be the top priority of government. My 2013-2015 biennial budget proposal improves public safety by expanding the state’s DNA databank to solve more crimes and more quickly. Our request also boosts resources within our Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force to combat child sex trafficking in Wisconsin. I encourage you to read more about these and my other initiatives.
