The SNAP Quality Control System measures the accuracy of State eligibility and benefit determinations. Data collected by quality control are also used for program improvement and analysis.

FY 2011 Error Rates

 

The FY 2011 national payment error rate of 3.80 percent represents the lowest rate in the history of the Program. The FY 2011 national negative error rate is 8.30 percent.

States receiving FY 2011 performance bonuses were also announced with the release of the quality control error rates on June 28, 2012. The awardees for best and most improved payment accuracy will divide $24 million based on caseload. These States are Alaska, Delaware, Florida, Idaho, North Carolina, South Dakota and Wisconsin for best and Massachusetts, South Carolina and Virginia for most improved. The awardees for best and most improved negative error rates for FY 2011 will divide $6 million based on caseload. These recipients are Alaska, Idaho, Maine and South Dakota for best, and Georgia and the U.S. Virgin Islands for most improved.
