Federal Employment Information
The U.S. Office of Personnel Management, in coordination with its strategic partners; The Departments of Defense, Labor, and Veterans Affairs, and Homeland Security launched the Feds Hire Vets website in January 2010.
The objective of the website is to provide a one-stop site with accurate and relevant Federal employment information specifically for Veterans, transitioning military service members, their families, and Federal hiring officials.
The Council on Veterans Employment updates the President on the progress of the Veterans Employment Initiative.
Site Highlights

- News section highlighting career opportunities around the country and updates on Council on Veteran Employment activities
- Federal Employment Data on Veterans in the Executive Branch
- Platform for Veterans to share Federal employment success stories with other Veterans
- Testimonials about the value of Veterans from Federal hiring managers and Veterans
- Calendar of events and employment workshops conducted by OPM and others
Council agency members frequently use Feds Hire Vets social media to specifically target veterans for noncompetitive hiring under the special hiring authorities such as the Veterans Recruitment Appointment (VRA), 30% or more disabled veteran appointment, Veteran Equal Opportunity Act (VEOA) appointment, and the Schedule A appointing authority for people with disabilities.
