  • 2009AB UMLS Release available on UMLSKS

    The 2009AB edition of the UMLS Knowledge Sources is available for searching on the UMLSKS.

  • UMLSKS, Downloads, License Application Downtime on November 14, 2009
    November 9, 2009
    The UMLSKS, download files from the UMLS Web site, and the Metathesaurus License application will be unavailable on Saturday, November 14, as part of a scheduled electrical outage at NLM.

    The 2009AB edition of the UMLS Knowledge Sources is available for download. For information about the release, see the What’s New section of the Release Documentation.

  • UMLS Web Site Changes
    September 23, 2009
    NLM has reorganized the UMLS Web site.  Information is now divided into four categories: New Users, User Education, Knowledge Sources, and Implementation Resources.  The reorganized pages will be discussed in the UMLS Webcast “UMLS Web site Changes” to be held on September 24, 2009 at 2:00 pm ET.  For more information about the Webcast or to register visit the UMLS Webcasts page.

  • UMLS Reference Manual
    September 23, 2009
    As part of the UMLS Web site reorganization, NLM rewrote the UMLS Release Documentation as the UMLS Reference Manual, a new book on the NCBI Bookshelf.  Information specific to a UMLS Release remains on the UMLS Web site while general reference information now resides on the Bookshelf. The UMLS Reference Manual has been formatted to increase readability and each chapter can be printed as a PDF file.

  • UMLSKS Scheduled Downtime
    September 14, 2009
    The UMLSKS will be unavailable on Monday, September 21, from 8:00 - 5:00 pm ET. Both the Web interface and the Web services API will be unavailable during this time. Access for downloading UMLS files, however, will not be affected. UMLS files are available in the "Downloads" area of the UMLS Web site.

  • UMLS Web Site Reorganization
    August 26, 2009
    The UMLS Web site will be reorganized and redesigned in mid-September. Information will be divided into four new categories: New Users, User Education, Knowledge Sources, and Implementation Resources. A new list of 'Quick Links' to popular UMLS Web pages will also be featured. The reorganized pages will be discussed in an upcoming Technical Bulletin article.

    July 31, 2009
    The July 2009 SNOMED CT: International Release files are available for download. This release incorporates on-going enhancements to facilitate the use of terminology in electronic health records.

  • CORE Problem List Subset of SNOMED CT®
    July 20, 2009
    The first version of the CORE (Clinical Observations Recording and Encoding) Subset of SNOMED CT is available for download.

  • New UMLS Webcasts
    February 17, 2009
    Registration is now underway for three UMLS webcasts. The topics are “UMLS Source Release Documentation” presented by Rachel Kleinsorge on February 26, “Using the UMLS sample data in MS Access” presented by Brian Carlsen on April 23, and “Processing sources vocabularies for representation in the UMLS Metathesaurus” presented by Stephanie Lipow on June 25.

  • IHTSDO Launches Global Health Terminology Workbench

    The IHTSDO has launched a new Workbench with tools to develop, maintain, and facilitate the use of SNOMED CT in health systems around the world.

  • New UMLS Downloads Web page
    January 27, 2009
    UMLS-related downloads have been moved from the UMLSKS to the new Downloads Web page on the UMLS Web site. If the file requires a UMLS account, you will be prompted for your UMLSKS Login ID and Password. You will only have to enter your Login ID and Password once per browser session.

  • New UMLS Webcasts
    January 13, 2009
    The first two UMLS webcasts of 2009 are now available for registration. The topics are “ RxNorm Update, MyMedicationList, and DailyMed” presented by Dr. Stuart Nelson on January 29 and “ UMLS Source Release Documentation” presented by Rachel Kleinsorge on February 26. Additional topics will be announced as plans are finalized.
