Transitional Living Program

Every young person deserves an opportunity to share his or her story. Help your youth do that by encouraging them to enter FYSB’s first ever national essay contest for young writers. The winner’s story will be shared online and at a national conference for youth workers. Runners up may have their essays published online, too.
The Family and Youth Service's Bureau's Transitional Living Program and Maternity Group Homes fund community-based programs that address the immediate needs of runaway and homeless youth and their families. Both programs aim to increase young people's safety, well-being and self-sufficiency, and to help them build permanent connections with caring adults.
If your youth-serving agency plans to apply for a Runaway and Homeless Youth Program grant (or grants) this spring, it’s not too early to start preparing.
Q: Our transitional living program is, for the first time, planning to house youth in their own apartments around our city. What can we do to make sure our youth are good tenants and don't have issues with their landlords?
Two new (free!) posters are now available from NCFY. Both posters were created for youth with lots of input from young people living in transitional housing.   “Build Your Future Step By Step” sends the important message that creating positive outcomes takes time and perseverance. Q: When can I apply for the Family and Youth Services Bureau's Transitional Living Program funding?
Grantees of the Family and Youth Services Bureau have long worked on multiple fronts, addressing many problems that youth and families may face, from homelessness and hunger to substance abuse and mental illness to low education levels and unemployment.
