Part 1: Introduction

Immigration records from the port of Vera Cruz, Mexico, are reproduced in NARA microfilm publication:
M2032. Passenger Lists of European Immigrants Arriving at Vera Cruz, Mexico, 1921-1923, and Related Correspondence, 1921-1931. 1 roll.

Part 2: Records Description

M2032 reproduces one file from the subject correspondence files of the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) Central Office, Washington, DC.

The INS Central Office subject correspondence files, 1906-1932, are arranged according to a numerical filing scheme. File No. 55079/290, which is reproduced in M2032, contains lists of European steamship passengers arriving at Vera Cruz, Mexico, from ca. June 1921 to ca. January 1923, and related correspondence from March 1921 to February 1931. The records are arranged in reverse chronological order.

These lists were typewritten by U.S. Consular officers at Vera Cruz, Mexico, which forwarded the lists to the U.S. State Department, which then forwarded them to the INS. Some of the passenger lists are carbon copies of the original typewritten copy, and, as a result, are difficult to read.
