We offer workshops that address the federal agency records held at the National Archives at Seattle. Reservations strongly encouraged.

Saturday, January 12, 2013	The National Archives Online The National Archives is working DAILY to make their 12 billion original documents more readily available by placing document descriptions AND digital images online. In addition, NARA documents are being scanned and indexed by private organizations in record numbers. Come find out how to access these wonderful resources, including an update of the new indexes for the 1940 US census!	10:00 - 11:30 AM
Saturday, January 12, 2013	Understanding the National Archives The National Archives holds over 12 billion federal documents from over 500 federal agencies in 38 facilities across the United States. Come learn where they are and what they hold. About 37,000 cubic feet of these documents are held in the Seattle facility. Come learn to analyze copies of some of the original documents, see how they are stored and retrieved, and learn how to use these documents in your own historical research.	1:00 - 2:30 PM

Brick Wall Genealogy Discussion Group Come bring your brown-bag lunch and your "impossible genealogy problem" and our knowledgeable staff will brainstorm possible solutions! All sessions are FREE and are held from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM.

* Our convenient facility can accommodate groups between 8 and 40 adults.
* Appointments for your group must be made in advance and the workshop must take place during our regular office hours, between 7:45 AM and 4:15 PM, Monday through Friday, or the second Saturday of each month between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM.[except Federal holidays]. * Smaller group workshops will be opened up to the general public. (Watch this page for announcements.)

Cost: Most workshops listed on this page are free of charge unless otherwise indicated. All suggested donations, if requested, are payable by cash or check at the door. Ample free parking is provided.

Location: NARA-Pacific Alaska Region, 6125 Sand Point Way NE, Seattle, WA 98115. Classes are held either in the upstairs Conference Room or our new Learning Center.

Registration: Advance registration is advised. Classes are held on a first come, first served basis. To register, call 206-336-5115, or e-mail: seattle.archives@nara.gov, or in person during normal business hours, 7:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., Monday-Friday.

Cancellation policy: We reserve the right to cancel a class due to low enrollment or adverse weather.
