Psychological Health

Psychological health is the overall wellness of mind, body and spirit. Concerns affecting the functioning, adaptation and optimal health of our nation’s returning service members and their families (i.e., adjustment, depression, posttraumatic stress, anxiety, well being) have caused military leadership to search for answers to improve understanding, diagnosis, treatment and prevention.

DCoE works to advance the field of psychological health, in partnership with science and academia, and contributes evidence-based resources to directly impact care for our service members and their families now and well into the future.

Deployment Health Clinical Center (DHCC), a DCoE center, focuses on key psychological health issues for health care providers, service members and their families. DHCC seeks to transform military health care delivery systems from a disease management model to a more effective and efficient population-based collaborative model of care through health systems research, program implementation support at military treatment facilities and program evaluation services.
