We Remember Coach John Wooden
John Wooden, a 2008 Caring Award honoree, passed
away at age 99 on Friday, June 4th, 2010. While he is known for his
illustrious coaching career, which included leading the UCLA basketball
team to an unprecedented 10 national titles, he is most remembered for
his caring nature and commitment to serving others. He coached his players
about more than just basketball. He coached them about life and how
to succeed with integrity. He always expected the best of his players
and of himself living by the belief that, “you
can’t live a perfect day without doing something for someone who
will never be able to repay you”. We at the Caring Institute are
honored to have known Coach Wooden and continue to
be inspired by his lessons and example.
